This year's statement shoes are a real treat for those of us with a passion for footwear. They are colourful, fringed, ruffled, embellished and even feathered. A ridiculously high pair of heels is a must and platforms are back!
High boots
Knee or thigh boots are still on trend, styled with round or tapering toes and made in fabrics from lace to silk. They look fantastic with jeans or paired with a mini-dress with patterned tights or over knee socks.
Shoots
This combination of shoe and boot is extremely flattering and versatile and you can wear them with just about anything you like. 'Shoots' can be found in as comfortable or complicated a style as you can imagine this year and are a big favourite. Look out for the cut out, open toe, strapped and cage styles, which have been seen all over the catwalks and - as with all shoes this year - don't be afraid of a bit of colour.
Lace pumps
Lace is big for 2010 and it's so pretty on pumps. Many of these designs include a hidden platform and are super-glam. However, heels like these are not for the faint hearted!
Platform sandals
The ultimate heels for 2010, high-heeled platform sandals have been all over the Spring/Summer catwalks. Platforms make them slightly more comfortable than straight heels but they are certainly for the true shoe lover. On the high street, bright colours like cherry red and yellow will be the most cheerful choice for spring.
Mary Janes
Perfect for the office, last year's sophisticated Mary Jane shoes will continue to grace our feet in 2010 but there is a cheekier twist this year with the addition of retro peep-toe designs.
Flat thong sandals/gladiators
Thank goodness, some easy to wear versatile flats. Flat thong sandals are perfect summer wear and they can be as casual or dressy as you like. You can wear them with most outfits and in a huge variety of colours and style. Gladiators give a more edgy look.
